An unreconciled person is dead to God for He does not fellowship with dark. Dark means to be unrighteous to be light one must be reconciled to become light meaning righteous this conversion takes place when you name your sins to God while in prayer and do this in the Name of His Son for we are to enter through the Son then be washed of sin in the baptism these work together the admission of sin to God in the Name of His Son and baptism the actual washing of admitted sin to come to God and be one with Him.
