Spiders are gross, and they freak us girls out. Some of us handle them better than others, but for the most part, girls hate spiders. I know they won't actually hurt us, I know I am a zillion times bigger than they are, but THEY ARE CREEPY, gross, and I'm pretty sure I heard one hiss at me. 

 Even if you, as a man, don't think spiders are creepy and worth your attention, show your wife how big and strong you are and get up and kill the spider!  Do not ask for anything in return, just let your wife (or sister or daughter or whatever female you happen to be around) rest in the comfort of knowing you are her protector and you will always, without question, take care of all the creepy critters that dare invade her home. You will be rewarded with a happy wife who will think you are mighty and brave!
