JonnyP!  Hey you've got enthusiasm if not experience.  The oracle at Delphi ... Paul addresses these issues (not in so many words) in his epistles, but these women would "speak" through tubes in the wall to worshippers, or write messages to answer questions (think "fortune cookie"), getting their information from ... who knows what source...?  an ancient fortune-telling method.
